HSM Contracting has been engaged by BMA Peak Downs Mine to deliver a package of critical civil works aimed at enhancing the long-term stability and surface water management of the Old Tailings Dam (OTD) and Airfield Tailings Dam (ATD).  This scope forms part of BMA’s commitment to ensuring legacy mining infrastructure remains stable, compliant, and environmentally responsible for the future.

The works include:

• Construction of battered buttress walls utilising site-won coarse reject material to reinforce existing redundant dam walls.
• Installation of new stormwater management infrastructure, including diversion drains, engineered spillways and wall filter upgrades to improve flow control and prevent erosion.
• Construction and installation of edge protection structures along dam walls and critical points to improve safety and operational access.

The project is being delivered under strict environmental and safety controls in a live mining environment. Its focus is on efficient material reuse, operational continuity, and long-term structural performance.
